9 GOLDEN YEARS

Yesterday we said goodbye to our beloved golden retriever, Breizh (a.k.a. Braise, and Brez). We are so grateful, dear girl, for all of the happiness you gave us.  We can never thank you enough. Repose en paix.

I leave you, dear reader, with Jackie's words:

Tu étais toute ma vie, depuis mes 7 ans, ma première meilleure amie, ma fifille je t'aime, tu es parmi les meilleurs anges. 25/07/15

You were my whole life, since I was 7 years old, my first best friend, ma fifille I love you, you are among the best angels. 7/25/15.

  4. The loss of a beloved pet leaves such a huge hole in your heart. They can never be replaced but you have enough love to love another and certainly love Smokey! I am hoping Breizh has found all of our beloved critters who have crossed the rainbow bridge and they are living and loving there and in our memories!

    lovely memories

  7. Goodbye beautiful Breizh.
Thank you Kristin for sharing her with us over the years. I look at those photos and can see and remember the joy she brought to your family and I feel the pain of her loss. My condolences to all the family.

  8. I am so sorry to hear about your dog. It is difficult to lose a family pet. My large husky/lab cross is 9 years old now. She is starting to slow down and is stiff and sore some days. I worry a bit about her when she is having one of her “off” days.

  9. Our hearts and thoughts go out to you all. We too have been through the loss of several family pets throughout the years, and it is such a sad time, but I always try to remember the better times. Breizh will always be with you.

  10. I am saddened to hear of the death of your beautiful & beloved family member. She was so fortunate to have you in her life giving her love, adoration, protection, security & fun. I know she will certainly be missed, but her son will be sharing all that you gave her. It, indeed, is a love that will be returned in many ways. All of us who have had pets that have died absolutely understand your feelings. She will always be in your heart.

  11. So sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. It seems you loved her so and you and your family treated her kindly. All a puppy dog could ask for is kind humans, food, and and a sense of a protective “pack”. You gave her that and more.

  12. I have never met you or your family but I have been following your blog for years and I feel like I know your family including your dogs. I have been on pins and needles each time they have escaped and am relieved when they are found. I am weeping right now for your loss because I know how important Breizh was to you. Thank you for sharing your life with us.

  13. This is such sad, sad news. My tears are flowing for all of you. We have loved your Breizh from afar, and she (and Smokey) have brightened many days. Sending love and hugs to all of you and to your beautiful Breizh who is now with God and the angels.

  14. I am so sorry. Breizh and Smokey make me so happy every time you show them.
    I am crying.
Today is a terrible day: I just read about Cecil the lion and now your beautiful dog.

  15. I am very sorry for your loss. I have taken great enjoyment following the lives of Braise and Smokey through your pictures and stories. She leaves behind Smokey and great memories.

  16. Kristin, Jean-Marc et famille – I am so very, very sorry that you have lost such an important member of your famille – I have lost 3 dogs in 12 years (we love to adopt the older ones) and it hurts just like losing any human member of your family. Actually, dogs are just funny humans in disguise, sent here to teach us how to love and to be kind to others. I loved Jackie’s letter to her and I worry for Smokey – his mother and companion – but he is in the best hands!
Kristin – this is one of the many reasons you have such a following – you write from your heart and you’ve made me and most of your followers cry – but that’s OK because you have simply shared a universal human experience, in such beautiful words. Thank you and my best to you! Susan

  17. Kristin, it breaks my heart to hear about Breizh. I’m so terribly sorry. As I type this I hope that she is romping happily on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge with my beloved Golden, Brandon. These sweet creatures leave such a mark on our lives and our souls – they never truly leave us, even so. Hugs to you, Jackie, Smokey and the boys as you remember all the love. xo

  18. So very sorry to read this…. we have enjoyed following the lives of your dogs. Jackie’s tribute is lovely, moving and honors the beautiful life you gave to her. Suzie

  19. Kristi, Tears are dropping on computer keyboards all over the world because of Breizh and the way you let us all get to know her. My uncle once said, upon the passing of his cat, Scooter, “If the lion can lie down with the lamb, I can at least look for my cat.” I, too, believe that since heaven is supposed to be like the Garden of Eden, filled with animals, there will be animals there whom we already know. The quote is in my story LAST RITES FOR MR. MERRYWEATHER, at my blogspot where you are already a treasured follower, and I’m beginning to work on it again. I also firmly believe that when you get to heaven BREIZH WILL FIND YOU.

  20. Man…I’m crying like MY dog died! I’ve read/followed this blog since its inception…it’s hard to imagine it without Braise. Rest in peace at the Rainbow Bridge, sweet girl. Tell my beloved Que hello from his mama.

  21. Kristi et toute la famille: Sad tears run down my cheeks. I am so sorry for your loss. This furry member of your family was all about unconditional love and loyalty and fun. I felt like I knew her, from all the stories and pictures. Jackie said it so eloquently, Breizh is surely among the angels now.

  22. It’s so sad to lose a dear friend. My heart goes out to you, your family, and Smokey. May sweet memories of her sustain you all.

  23. I am so sorry for your loss. Our furry family members add so much love to our lives. You’ll be in my thoughts and prayers,
    Dewayna
