Bonne et heureuse Année 2012!

Best wishes from Kristi
Proud wife, or femme fière. I snapped this picture last July, during a special dinner, in Colmar, in honor Chief Grape! Given today's theme (which is partly on focusing), I hope this picture fits the bill—j'espère que celle-là fera l'affaire! P.S. If you are looking for a cozy and delicious restaurant-bistro in Colmar, Jean-Marc and I very much enjoyed Mina and Jérôme's warm welcome at La Cocotte de Grand-Mère!

Bonjour les amis!

Just a little mot for you today, as we are heading to Aunt Marie-Françoise and Uncle Jean-Claude's for lunch! I can't wait to see them as well as their lovely daughter, Cousin Audrey, who is in from Italy—and with her handsome boyfriend, Julian (non, il n'est pas italien!).

I leave you with these meilleurs voeux:

Bonne et heureuse Année 2012.
Have a good and happy 2012.

Concentrez-vous sur les bonnes choses!
Keep focused on the good!

(et soyez sage, aussi!)
(and be good, too!)

Bien amicalement,

Kristin & Jean-Marc

Two things are helping me to keep that inner joy going in the new year: 1) a change of perspective 2) focus (on the good). Here Mama Braise and Son Smokey illustrate these tips…

How will you keep that inner joie kindled in the new year? I'd love to know your secret for a peaceful heart. Comments welcome here.

A Word About Some of the Ads You See on This Blog

I received the following letter last week:

"Very disappointing to see a political ad on your blog.   This is a sensitive time in America politically and financially.  Seeing the Warren ad on your blog, has given me pause to continue with your blog…"

  1. Thank you for all these good things: good wishes, good thoughts, good
    ideas, good vibes.
Jan, I hope everyone reading is as comforted by the quote you shared
    as I have been! :
All shall be well and all shall be well, and all manner things shall
    be well!
I also see the quote in French, by Julienne de Norwich:
…Et tout sera bien… chaque chose sera pour le bien…
Gordon, thanks for sharing John Hilton III and Anthony Sweats
Gratitude Challenge. Its been on my mind and I hope it will stay on
    my mind!
Sharon, you asked for a winter recipe. I hope to try this one, for
Aigo Boulido, at Angela Billows blog Provence Calling:

  2. Greetings,
I’ve never noticed any ads, and if I did I would probably just ignore. It is rather amazing that someone is complaining about what they see on a FREE newsletter….simply delete if it is so offensive. You seem like such an earnest and lovely person, it annoyed me that someone would give you grief about such things. I hope you and your beautiful family have a wonderful year! Thank you for the time you give to us through your newsletter. Leslie (Dallas, Texas).

  3. Keeping my inner jolie for this year is my ardent hope that I finally sell my Bistro, Inn, Boutique Winery & Bakery so I may finally move to Provence on a much more permanent basis that the annual three weeks in April we currently have. I know it is the year of the Dragon but I have dubbed it THE YEAR OF THE BUYER! Only 12 more weeks until I am back in Provence. Thank you for keeping me “connected” and for your great writing.
FOR DAD: Louisiana, Missouri is a small river town on the Mississippi just about 65 miles north of St. Louis. So far a very mild winter.Happy new year to all the family!

  4. Happy New Year and happy travels today!
A peaceful heart…gratitude I find, is the most important key for me….Lots of gratitude. Trying to live more in the moment, the present this year! While following our hearts to live “the dream” we hope in France!
To your health, happiness and fulfillment Kristin and all of your lovely family…

  5. Happy New Year Kristin! I bought your new book, and just wanted to say it is really lovely. I like the type, the way it is laid out, and especially the photos. Congratulations for another wonderful book! Best to you and your family for 2012!!

  6. Happy Newest Year, Kristin!
Thank you so much for a great connection to France during this past year. I always enjoy reading your updates and seeing the photos, learning new words or guessing if I already know a phrase or just think I do. 🙂

  7. Bonne Annee to you and your wonderful family!! I am so glad I found your blog, I enjoy it so much! I find that a peaceful heart is the one that finds joy in everything in life! I always look around me and try to see the positive in everything, from my wonderful cats, Sasha, Beauty and Camille, to enjoying reading your book. I just ordered your latest book (that I had in my wish list) and I am looking forward to start reading it. Keep looking up at the beauty of the stars and the wonderful smell of lavender Krystin! The temperature here in Charlotte, NC is 15 degrees, it is windy but I love the changes of every season.
Best to you and your family!!

  8. I liked and printed Gordon’s Gratitude challenge!
I cultivate inner joy and peace with Paul’s words from Philippians 4:4-9: Thank God, ask him for what I need, rejoice in who he is, consciously fill my mind with things that are pure and lovely. And I remember that Paul was in prison when he wrote this, so it wasn’t easy for him, either.
I always enjoy your books and blog, and I’ve ordered several of your book suggestions, too.
    Sue in Texas

  9. I find a walk in the loveliness of the forest and quiet moments sitting in the woods along the creek is sure to sooth and refuel me. The exquisite beauty and peacefulness fills me when my joy reserve is low. Also, the much-too-rare leisurely lunch with a cherished friend always leaves me feeling grateful, happy and inspired. Perhaps this year I’ll be able to meet up with you for a lunch date! Blessed 2012 Kristi!
